MIND, BODY, and SPIRIT...
how are you feeling?
Every day we as a human race spend billions of dollars, amazing amounts of energy, and countless hours to feel better. It’s a search for completeness. We desperately want to be authentically healthy and whole individuals. However this search continues to be elusive. Why? Because even though we are physical, mental, and spiritual beings we don’t live like we are. And when we don’t nourish our mind, body, and spirit health and wholeness will never be a reality. At Riverview Family Practice and Integrative Medicine Center we want you to be truly healthy. Holy Doodles - Cartoons
to Contemplate
Holy Doodles, Cartoons to Contemplate is a fun ongoing section of the MICAH website. The pictures you find here are images that came to mind from meditating on scripture passages, books, past events, conversations with friends and family, and from simply trying to be attentive to God in my everyday life. Following each drawing is a short paragraph about the drawing itself along with a few questions to ponder and discuss. The cartoons are copyrighted, however you are very welcome to use them as long as you credit where they came from. My hope is that these pictures will stretch your mind just enough to cause you to think more deeply about your life with God. Click here to view latest cartoon > >

The kitchen cabinets are currently being built and could possibly be installed in April. Plumbing will start soon. As we get closer to having the building finished we are thinking more and more about the basic furnishings, cook ware, bedding, etc. We have compiled a wish list if anyone is interested in helping purchase the items we need. To purchase items you can call us at 218-281-4853 to let us know what you would like to purchase from the wish list. We can process your credit card over the phone. This internship is focused on the study and practice of the spiritual life and its relation to leadership. Spiritual Life and Leadership Internship starts June 1, 2009 and will last from one to three months.

Other areas of focus will include learning about how to search out local places to purchase seasonal and organic foods, learning how to prepare menus and shopping lists, budgets, organizing and stocking the kitchen, researching and preparing special dietary meals such as no dairy, vegan, gluten free, etc. Culinary Internship starts June 1, 2009 and will last from one to three months.

Landscape and Garden Intern
The landscaping and gardening intern will learn about and be involved in a variety of creative assignments such as researching and designing landscapes, organic gardening, harvesting, irrigation, winterizing, as well as the care and upkeep of a green roof. Much will depend on the intern's interests and skills. There will also be an emphasis on the spiritual life and how it is connected to work. Update on the MICAH
Retreat House
Construction on the MICAH retreat house has entered the ‘winter phase.’ Now that the outside of the building is winterized and close to completion our work schedule is slowing down and we are concentrating on the inside. Throughout the winter we will be wiring, plumbing, putting up dry wall, installing the kitchen and bathrooms, and completing the guest rooms. When the weather warms up in the spring we will finish the slate stone front of the building and continue landscaping. We will be posting photos of the building throughout the winter months to keep you up-to-date on what is happening.
The overall goal of the design of the MICAH retreat house is to have a net energy use of zero. A geothermal heating and cooling system, which uses the constant core temperature of the earth, locally procured materials, a green roof, and a 33-foot windmill, are all part of the sustainable design. These, as well as other aspects of the architecture of the structure, are designed to fit with the landscape of the prairie and also with the mission of MICAH to live on earth in an elegant and gentle manner.
